Here at LMHS, we take pride in being a Ram. Since our first days as a Ram singing the alma mater is embedded in our minds. We hold pep rallies and fill the stands every friday night. Here are some facts to start the new year in the rich tradition of Ramnation.

Once a Ram always a Ram:
Over 30 staff and faculty currently working at LMHS are Alumni. “They come back because the teachers they had made a difference in their lives and, in turn want to do the same thing,” said principal, Michael Kotkin. Some of the teachers include Kym Gaudreau, Shannon McGhee, Heidi Thompson and Megan Wilkins

The Original Mascot:
When the school opened, a farmer gave the school a goat to symbolize our real mascot, the ram. We named him “Rosco the Ram.” “It’s funny, that they thought a goat would pass as a ram in the first place because a goat is not as intimidating as a ram,” Said sophomore Summerlyn Murray. However, during its life that goat lived and died as a Ram.

The Show Must Go On:
Mr. Eissele one of the drama directors has been at LMHS many years. During that time he has had a variety of amazing and strange experiences being the drama director. One year he and the drama students put on the musical West Side Story. At the last minute just before the curtain rose on opening night the actor playing Officer Krupke fell ill. Mr Eissele had no choice but to fill in for the student. Mr. Eissele is still waiting for his next big break.

Walking Dead, Lake Mary Style:
The drama honor society, or better known on campus as the Thespians, take part in the Ghost Walk in Downtown Lake Mary every Halloween. Be very afraid Ramnation.

New Beginnings:
This year lets give a big Ramnation welcome to our second baseball coach Jeffrey Perez! Coach Perez is the first new baseball coach in 32 years. ” I’m excited about the opportunity to be a part of Ramnation! This is one of the greatest schools in Seminole County and the State of Florida.” said Coach Perez.

Opposing Teams- Watch Out:
Our football team works extremely hard from February all the way through football season. During their training, Navy SEALS come in and work with the Junior Varsity and Varsity teams. They help them in team building, mental and physical toughness for 12 hours, 6pm-6am. “I’m not really shocked. It’s a good idea that the Navy SEALS helped train the football players, the football team needs hardcore, strict motivation and the best training, to excel this season!” said sophomore Kara Hoover. Not only are the football teams working hard but the program is growing as well. This year there are over 155 players!

Shout Out to Women’s Weight Lifting:
Lake Mary is one of the only high schools in the country that has a girls weightlifting team. The girls on the team are extremely grateful to have this rare opportunity. “Being the few in America to have this experience makes our school unique considering we’re one of the better schools going to states every year” said sophomore weightlifter Aubrey Hawkins. Jack that iron girls!

All Around Excellence:
The Lake Mary Rams athletes have won the Seminole Athletics All Sports trophy thirteen times. “Lake Mary has one of the best sports programs, and every year it is expanding and getting better and the results are showing,” said sophomore Ariana Vyvjala

This year’s faculty and students have some big shoes to fill. However, if history and tradition have taught us one thing its Ramnation faculty and students excel every year. Here’s looking at our greatest year ever! Can you smell that state championship our athletes and coaches are cooking up! GO RAMS!
