Taking out a loan for a concert ticket isn’t as ridiculous as it sounds. With concert tickets being upwards of 900 dollars and having to be purchased over a year in advance, seeing your favorite artists like Taylor Swift, Morgan Wallen, and Zach Bryan is only a dream and not a reality for most people.
Getting a concert ticket is like going to war. Fighting for a presale code, a spot in the queue, and seats is now the new normal. This battle doesn’t secure you a ticket and it most definitely doesn’t secure you a cheap one. Concert tickets today now range from 300 to 900 dollars depending on the artist, arena, and seating choice.
Junior Bella W. is a big-time Zach Bryan fan who was lucky enough to get a presale code for his upcoming tour, however, she received a huge surprise when she entered the queue. There were over 15,000 people in front of her. It didn’t stop there, as once it became her turn, the only tickets available were nose bleeds for 400 dollars. She says, “I was so excited to get tickets and was crushed when I realized I wasn’t going to able to afford them.”
Similarly, Senior Taylor S. was so excited to get Morgan Wallen tickets for his latest tour. She signed up to get a presale code but unfortunately didn’t get one. She tried to stay positive and waited for resale tickets to start popping up on Ticketmaster. Once again to her surprise, tickets on there were reselling for double or triple the price. She said, “Ticket scalpers are ruining real fans opportunities to get tickets and I’ve had enough of it.”
The ticketing system needs to change. It is breaking the hearts and bank accounts of people around the globe. Fans need to decide if the memories are worth the struggles and prices that come with it.
