Most students will miss a day or more of school for various reasons, and when they get back to school they have loads of work to make-up. The make-up work varies from worksheets to tests. Having to make up all this work on top of the current classwork that you have can be really stressful on some students.
Opinions
I asked a few of my friends on how stressful making up work can be and here are their responses:
Ella Miller said, “Make-up work can be very stressful sometimes, especially if you miss more than two days of school.” Ashley Gries said, “The work can just keep piling up, to where you have to cancel your plans that you had just to get the work done.” Sebastian Quintero said “It can be very stressful. If you are making up work it will pile up on the work you already have and you are playing catch up.” Sarah Williams said, “It can be super stressful. If you miss a week of school you have a bunch of assignments to make-up. And a lot of the assignments go in as zeros until you complete them, and it can totally tank your grade.” Katelyn Willis said, “It’s very stressful. The zeros will go in for the missing assignments and the teachers will take forever to change it.”
Social Time
Make-up work can also take away from students social time, like lunch. If you miss a test while you were absent, you would most likely have to take it during lunch time. No one wants to do that. It takes away your time for talking to your friends and eating. And if you miss more than one test, then you would have to miss more than one lunch just to get caught up.
Some students can have difficult times completing work at their homes because they may not have a laptop, or they don’t have a good work environment, and that won’t help if they are missing work.
As you can see, make-up work can definitely take a toll on students.
