I remember back in elementary school when the most important task of your life was having your parent sign the permission slip for your field trip. A decade later, and I haven’t had a memorable field trip yet. We need to bring back field trips!
Field trips we always a privilege in elementary school, and I think since we are closer to being adults, it should stay a privilege. Bringing 3000* students on a trip is a mess, but let’s say you only brought the national honor society students, or students who maintain a certain GPA, it would be a lot more cost affordable and hassle free. Field trips have become a thing of the past, yet those are on of the list memorable things from the past I remember. Field trips associated with current grade level material whether it be in history or science could be beneficial for students. It allows them to be more engaged, having something to look forward too about school, and have a drive for maintaining better academics.
”I can’t even remember the last time I’ve been on a field trip, I couldn’t imagine how fun it would be doing something similar while being in high school and being able to go on cooler trips.” ~Ben Burry
“We are almost all adults, why can’t the school take us to something more serious and special?” ~Aidan Sless
Field trips would mean a lot more than skipping a day of school for kids, it’s something that brings the student body closer and sets a goal for most students to earn that privilege, also it’s the last time we are kids, why can’t we have one last field trip.
