In LMHS Technology has taken over completely, The style of learning, a guide we all turn to, and so much more. We’ve all become reliant on technology in general. So what’s so wrong with having a cell phone at school?
For starters:
Technology is taking over our world and advancing at a fast rate. Knowing that technology is rapidly advancing it got put into school systems like our lovely LMHS. Powerpoint presentations, to online assignments, or even lessons being projected onto the board. We all rely on technology for almost everything so why get rid of that?
Classroom work:
When it comes to classroom activities we use cell phones more times than we think. Whether it’s to scan a QR code or go onto ecampus or even a quick way to look at skyward for missing work. Taking that away will just make everything a lot harder on not only teachers but students.
Sally Ragas believes, “I feel that a lot of teachers have you use your phone for school.”
Hall passes:
Looking at LMHS, As technology advanced we started using Digital hall passes. Getting your phone and doing a quick scan of a DIGITAL student ID seems so much more efficient and doesn’t take anymore than a minute of instructional time. Why would you want to waste time for a hall pass? Without cell phones and the Minga app wouldn’t it just be a waste of time?
Leigh Strickland thinks, “They make sense but it gets annoying when the teacher gives you a physical pass instead and you’re tracked down by the people outside checking students.”
Should we really go through with the banning of cell phones at school?
Cell phones are something that we can grab so easily. For them being not only entertainment but a work tool there shouldn’t be a reason we ban them from schools? Technology is one of our biggest advancements as people have ever had. Technology was created for the sole purpose of solving a human problem or meeting a human need or desire. So why take that away?
