A quick rundown –
The first bell rings at 7:15 am, Most buses pick you up as early as 6:17 am (I know from experience) and for someone who likes to take their time getting ready so be ready to feel completely drained and dog-tired all day long and no amount of caffeine can save you.
Nap Time will improve high schools academically –
With the early times we wake up, sleepiness can affect academic scores all across the board. What’s a good solution? Nap time! If nap time was brought back it could help improve students’ sleep schedules AND grades. With some more sleep added into a student’s schedule it can bring more energy back into school. With more energy students can concentrate better on their studies.
Leigha Strickland thinks, “YES. I WANT NIGHT NIGHT TIME, CLASSES ARE TOO OVERWHELMING AND ALL I WANT IS TO GO NIGHT NIGHT” – I love this very much
Nap time can help with mental health –
With the lack of the sleep we get as high schoolers get it’s a big impact on the students mental health. With how things are right now the more sleep the better. Sleep is a huge aspect of a person’s mental and physical health so if nap time was brought back it could be a big improvement with mental health and right now that seems to be the most important thing for children’s mental health.
Sage Ragas believes, “I think that high schoolers shouldn’t have nap time, yes it would be nice to be able to sleep instead of doing school. But in the end High schoolers are old enough to make sure they have a good sleep schedule, and if they don’t they pay the consequences of not having enough sleep. So no, high schoolers should not have nap time in school.” – boringgggggg
Hormonal changes require more sleep –
With puberty hitting teenagers like a train, hormonal changes come with it. If we’re getting scientific then, research shows that Circadian rhythms change around puberty, most likely due to hormonal changes. This results in adolescents displaying a delayed circadian sleep phase with a preference for going to bed late and getting up later than adults. But with schools starting so early getting up later isn’t an option. So nap time would help with the lack of sleep.
How nap time could help with not only school but workers-
With students starting to grow up and get into the working field. Sleep would be considered a prized possession. Late hours, being put on for a double, and homework all on top of that sleep is a crucial thing to teenagers. So why don’t we do some justice for the people in the working field and give them a little break! Some must be exhausted and overworked. A nap a day could keep a breakdown away after all!
