With Lake Mary High School having its first playoff football game this Friday. I interviewed a player about the upcoming game. The player I interviewed was Slade Wittstock. Slade is an Offensive Lineman on the football team. The first question I asked was “How are you preparing for the upcoming playoff game.” Slade said, “I am preparing by making sure I know all the plays and blocking assignments that I have to know, I’m also watching film to see what the other team’s plays are like.” It is essential that every player does this to perform well under the bright lights. Watching film is one of the best things a player can do to prepare for a game. It can put you two steps ahead of your opponent. Another way to be two steps ahead of your opponent is to have good team chemistry. With this in mind I asked, “How does your team get along.” He replied, “This team is like a Brotherhood, our bond is extremely strong.” Chemistry is what separates good teams from bad teams. Good chemistry can help you win games, while bad chemistry can lead to miscommunication and a variety of other problems.
Lake Mary High School has a very good football program. With this in mind I asked Slade, “What do you think is your teams biggest strength.” He said, “I think our biggest strength is our offense, we score alot of points every game.” This is the one of the key reasons to Lake Mary’s success. Also, playoff football brings alot of pressure onto the players. This pressure can lead to doubt and failure. I asked Slade, “How do you handle pressure.” He stated, “I dont get much nerves from pressure, I just dont let it get to me.” Pressure always comes from big games, and Lake Mary has had many highly anticipated games so far this season. With this being said I wanted to recap on the season. So I asked Slade, what his favorite game was from this season thus far. “My favorite game this year was Lake Brantley.” This is understandable because they are Lake Mary’s rival, and every year the game is very exciting and filled with thrill.
