Why thrift?
Many people ask why thrift? Thrifting is a affordable, fun and eco-friendly way to shop. Many people spend hundreds of dollars buying new clothes when you can just go thrifting and find the same thing for $10.99. Thrifting isn’t just about finding affordable clothes, it’s also about the experience, the usual thrifting experience is usually more chill than shopping at a chaotic and packed mall. One of the most important reasons I love thrifting is its eco-friendly because it reduces waste by giving clothes another chance rather than buying new clothes which contributes to fast fashion. Another positive of thrifting is that a lot of stores give back to their communities by putting profits towards charity’s or giving clothes that have been in the store for a while to those in need. So instead of spending $70 on a plain tank top from Hollister, try thrifting and you’ll likely find the same thing for much less.
I interviewed students and asked them what was the best item they found thrifting and where did they find it.
Mia Gamez- “I recently found this ninja shirt that says, “you know what else is massive” and i found it at Goodwill.”
Tamryn Harris- “I found this Coach purse at Goodwill and it looked old but was in good shape and it was only like 20$.”
Alaysha Fountain- “I found this graphic tee with Latto (one of my fav artists) on it from Plato’s closet for super cheap I don’t think it was anymore then 10$
Jazmine flores- “I found these vintage Louis Vuitton heels at a yard sell for $60.”
Shelsey Hernandez- “I found these cute boots cut true religion jeans at Plato’s closet, i don’t Remember the exact price but I know they weren’t too expensive.”
