Is AI going to make us less intelligent and more lazy?
The rapid increase in how many people use artificial intelligence has sparked many questions. One of them being if it will cause us to be solely reliant on them more than our own capabilities . Some believe that it’s only going to benefit our future while others believe it may be the very thing that ends humanity.
Today I have asked 3 students from Lake Mary high school this one question. Do they think AI is going to make us less intelligent and more lazy?I asked Mia Medina her thoughts on it. She states “yes, AI will eventually make us lazy and less intelligent.” I then asked if she could explain her reason why and she said “I think that because the more time passes when people use artificial intelligence, they eventually forget to come up with things naturally by themselves.They’ll turn to artificial intelligence to answer for them, decide for them, and speak for them. That makes us lose sight of what we are supposed to naturally be doing.”. Next, I asked Jonans if he thought that AI was going to negatively impact us and he replied with “ I don’t think it will because eventually we will need to survive in the real world with out AI “I then asked him if he wanted to elaborate more and he said “No, I don’t think there much more to be said, it’s not something that should always be on someones mind.”. My last interview was with Angel Marnique. He stated “I think both, AI can make you smart if you use it to learn and think critically, but lazy if you depend on it without understanding.” I asked if he wanted to say anything else about AI and he replied with “No.”
In the end of things, we can see that many have different view points on how AI is going to affect us. We can all agree that it is going to become a big part of the future but what we can’t all agree on is how we are going to let it shape us as a society . Everyone has different morals,standards, stories, and goals so at the end of the day it is you who decides if AI intelligence will make you more lazy and less intelligent .
