Now Game of the year is an event everybody looks forward to and debates what game will win game of the year and i have my own theories about which will win. It will ultimately come down to three games maybe four, that being Baldurs gate 3, Spider-man 2 and Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom and MAYBE Lies of P. All theses games are masterpieces in their own right but i want to talk about each.

First one i want to talk about is Baldurs gate 3. Now i have talked about Baldurs gate before and my opinions not only stay the same but have VASTLY improved, and further proves that this game is a masterpiece. Although i haven’t finished the game it has exceeded my expectations in every way, the story, the game play, the characters all of it is perfect. Now i wont spoil the story because its basically impossible to because every and i do mean EVERY choice you make impacts the story even just saying the right or wrong thing can vastly change the main or side story line, not to mention the literal HUNDREDS of minor side characters. And all that is not including the weapons where if you miss out on it or side quest connecting to it, it will be lost forever and you wont be able to get it back making exploration key and vital if you want the good stuff. The most important part of the entire game is the characters, you can develop relationships with every single character, both romantically or loathsome and their story’s will tug at your heartstrings and will make you genuinely care for each character you feel deserves it. The last reason this game deserves game of the year is because it brought us something completely different and made it fun to play and brought DND to a video game and was able to emulate it perfectly and Baldurs gate 3 has earned itself as one of the greatest game ever made.

Next is The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. TOTK is the sequel to The legend of Zelda Breathe of the wild and is what i believe is third place when it comes to Game of the year, let me explain. TOTK is an amazing sequel and an even better addition to the legend of Zelda series but it doesn’t compare to the other games on this list. TOTK improves and expands on every aspect of Breathe of the wild and even brung back Ganondorf but compared to Baldurs gate and Spider-man 2 it is doomed to most likely not win, which is really unfortunate because if it was any other year it would have a higher chance of winning but i doubt it will.

Last is Spider-Man 2, sequel to Spider-Man and Spider-Man Miles Morales, made by insomniac studios. Now im going start by saying that this game is a masterpiece and i haven’t even played it. Now that  might cause you to think don’t have a  reliable opinion but from the videos posted and from what ive heard from friends it is game of the year material. I’ve played spider-man 1 and a little of Miles Morales and both are masterpieces in their own right and this game is both games times 20. The web swinging is so much better for both miles and peter, with miles he has his venom leap that propels him forward and Peter uses the symbiote for the same thing. This next part is a spoiler so if you don’t want to be spoiled do skip to the end of the paragraph. For a portion of the game you can even play as Venom! Which is by far the funnest part of the game because you feel like an unstoppable force and feel badass. Besides the gameplay the story is a vast improvement from the other two games and even brings back some of the villains from the games. This game is prime for game of the year material because of how good the story and gameplay mesh as well as the quality of life changes made.

Now the two games that will most likely win will be either Baldurs gate or Spider-man 2 because there the two games that blew up the most and were the most anticipated out of all the games to come out. There both evenly matched when it comes to being masterpieces but i feel that Baldurs gate will win because it brought the concept of DND into a video game and made near perfect and might just have the slight edge over spider-man 2 which will allow it to win game of the year. Now i wont be mad if spider-man 2 wins because like stated before their both masterpieces in there own right but comparing both games it more than likely Baldurs gate 3 will take Game of the year
