All teenagers are broke so parents are gonna say get a job. But which one is the best? Many 15-16 year olds are gonna apply to Publix because they are flexible with your school schedule and won’t have you working lots of hours, but the downside is that less hours, less pay. And most teenagers want all the money they can get. 

There are more jobs out there that can get you good money. It’s just that if you work at Publix long enough you get a stock in their company. Maybe Publix or Target aren’t good for you. There is Huey Magoos. A very popular chicken place here in Lake Mary, Longwood and Orlando. You can get $8.66 per hour for Crew Members to $17.32 per hour for Front of House Team Members. Another fast food place that every teen likes in the U.S. is chick-fil-a, it is a great job to start at as long as you are outgoing and attentive. 

Dan Brennan stated that, “High school students who work learn good time-management skills and organization. They learn important communication skills and how to work on a team. They develop a work history and can take those skills with them to the adult working world”. Getting a job younger can also improve building character, which is good in the long run for getting bigger and better jobs. 

To get a real opinion I asked Aiden Binding, 9th grader at LMHS, he said that ‘’ I think that the best job to start at is a  sports store like Academy or Dicks sporting goods, because I think it would be fun to stock the shelves and see all the new equipment”. I asked one more person, Kingston Ricketts, 9th grader at LMHS, “ To me the best job to start at is Target, one reason being they have good pay for just starting out a job and they are flexible with your school schedule”. 

As you can see there are many different opinions of where you should work for a first job. There was Publix, Target, Huey Magoos, Chick-Fil-A, and a sporting goods store. All stores have good pay so really any of them would be a good first job, it is all up to you though.
