Interview of a Softball Teammate: Marissa Kintner

Interview+of+a+Softball+Teammate%3A+Marissa+Kintner

Softball is a sport that Lake Mary High School offers and there are a lot of girls that play it especially at this school. Softball is one of the sports that isn’t as popular as others but it’s one of the most competitive sports. It’s like baseball but with a bigger, yellow ball. The girls also pitch it underhand like in a circle rather than over hand pitching in baseball. The program at Lake Mary High School is very interesting and I’ve asked a couple questions to one of the JV softball players to see what her experience is like in this program.

What are the best qualities of being apart of the LMHS Softball Program?

“The best qualities of being apart of the LMHS softball program is the community and competition embraced in everything we do. I love how everyone is all working towards the same goal and helping one another be successful in their achievements.”

Where do you play in the field and how does it primarily work?

“I primarily play middle infield which means shortstop or second base. Basically I play in the middle of the field and its my job to cover my section and not let things go by me. It’s always the job of an infielder to attempt to get the runner out and that’s the main focus.”

How is the team chemistry, is there a lot of encouragement?

“The team chemistry is great and everyone is always really encouraging toward one another. The majority of the players have all played together before so it’s just natural all being together again. Everybody gets along and everyone’s always excited to be at practice and games and get to play together.”

What is your favorite part about softball?

“My favorite part about softball is the competition and being able to compete every day with some of my best friends. I love getting to share the same activity and same goal with these people and be able to play with them for the next couple of years. I love the competitive side of the game and how there’s always something to look forward to and always another play to go after.”

If there was a position you could try other than your primary, what would it be and why?

“If there was another position I could try other than my primary it would be pitching because they’re involved in every pitch and every play of the game. They control the game and everything is based off of them.”
