Who doesn’t love watching their favorite show after a long day? Finding a new show to watch can be hard, but once you find the right one it is such a relief. So, I compiled a list of the top 5 Netflix series right now according to the teen girls I interviewed. Obviously everyone has different taste in shows, but these titles kept coming up over and over again.
- Outer Banks
Outer Banks is by far one of the most popular Netflix series and not only for teen girls. It seems like everyone has watched this show and liked it. Outer Banks highlights John B. and his three best friends as they search for the treasure related to his fathers disappearance. Each episode left me wanting more and I finished it way too fast. This is the perfect show to watch with spring break coming up because it radiates a summer vibe.
2. Gilmore Girls
Another favorite: Gilmore Girls! This show has been loved ever since its release and I understand why. Something about it is so comforting and heartwarming. I asked my friend, Delaney, why she liked it and she said “I love how Gilmore Girls shows a different dynamic between a mom and daughter. It also feels very cozy since it is set in a small town. We can also see Rory’s different lives: she lives with her mom in Stars Hollow and her rich lifestyle at prep school with her grandparents.” This show will always have a special place in my heart.
3. Never Have I Ever
My personal favorite. This show is unhinged but it is so entertaining. I’ve watched every episode and never got bored. The main character, Devi Vishwakumar, is also a relatable character for a lot of girls for different reasons which is so special.
4. Ginny and Georgia
Another show revolving around a daughter and mom. Some might say it’s the Walmart version of Gilmore Girls but I disagree. It is completely different from Gilmore Girls in the best way. I will admit, it is weird but still entertaining. It’s different from a lot of the other teen dramas on Netflix in a good way.
5. Young Sheldon
Hear me out… Young Sheldon is definitely unlike any show on this list or any show I’ve ever watched, but I surprisingly really enjoyed it. Not just me, but a lot of the girls I interviewed liked it as well. The episodes are short but funny making it easy to watch episode after episode. Another one of my friends, Charlotte, said “I watched a few episodes and really like it so far.” She told me she has a hard time starting new shows but found watching Young Sheldon really enjoyable.
