The First Plant-Based Running Shoe

Starting in the Fall of 2020, you will be able to enjoy your daily run whilst supporting the environment. The Forever Floatride GROW is the first vegan, plant-based running shoe. This will be the third plant-based shoe Reebok plans to release. According to Harpersbazaar, “…the shoes replace oil-based plastics with materials made of castor bean oil, eucalyptus tree, algae, and natural rubber.” Though these revolutionary shoes are good for the environment, are they needed? Abby Jacob says, “I don’t think I would buy them. I do think that creating a mainstream, vegan product will help encourage protecting the environment, as well as,  promote healthy living.” So obviously they good for the environment, but how will they hold up for actual runners? According to Claudia Williams, “Since I can’t try them yet, a review isn’t available. But if I were shopping for a running shoe, I can’t say these would stick out to me. Yeah, they are good for the environment, but how long would they last? I need something durable.” Until the shoes officially come out, the verdict still stands whether they are a practical item. Even if they are the worst running shoe, they can pave a path for more eco-friendly products in the future.
