Getting Caught by Life360

Getting Caught by Life360

Having parents that control everything you do is annoying. With life360 it just increases the worries of parents. And teens are going to find out ways to get around life360. Life360 has caused us, teens, to sneak around this tracking app that’s connected to your phone that you carry everywhere. It shows how fast you are going in a car to where exactly you are and a lot more. Here is a story from a junior who got caught by Life360.

“A couple of days before the weekend, I knew that my mom said I could not do anything until next week because of my grades. So I had to think of something. With life360 on my phone, there was NO WAY for me not to get caught by her. I looked up things on google and tried many different ways to say I’m at home but I’m really not. SO I figured it out. I had an iPod from years ago and I downloaded life360 and joined my family group and it did not change anything except for my phone being disconnected and my iPod connected. So before the weekend, I wanted to test if it actually worked or not. So I plugged my iPod in and deleted the app from my phone and left the house. I had my sister see if it said I was home or not and guess what… I was “still at home”. My plan was perfectly inset and I couldn’t think of a way to get caught. On Friday after school, I came home and around 4 my mom left to go to work. Now, my mom has cameras set up around the front of the house and one in the living room. So what I did was so smart and I made my friend pull up on a side road behind my house and I just ran through the backyard. My plan was even more put together because I had my sister text me with updates on if the iPod was still working and if mom texted about anything.

So later that night, around 12ish, my sister is asleep and hasn’t texted back about any updates. I was starting to get nervous. 30 minutes later my mom texts me. In a very angry text, she said “You better get home right now!! Why did you think that you could just leave the house without my permission and think you will get away with it.” etc… After a lot of cuss words and angry face emojis, I called my sister and she answered, I was like where are you? Where’s the iPod?. She ran into my room and the iPod was gone. She hung up on me. 10 minutes later I get a call from her and my mom is on the phone. She was so angry and she hung up on me so fast and drove to the house I was at. My mom picked me up from my friend’s house and was silent the entire way home. When I got home, I went straight to my room and looked everywhere for the iPod. I could not find it anywhere! Until… I heard my dog outside through my window. I went through my bathroom door which leads to the pool area and my dog was winning at the pool. I look down and my iPod was at the bottom of the pool. My dog must have gone in my room and grabbed the iPod and was messing around with it outside and dropped it in the pool. The last thing I could think of… actually happened. I basically got grounded for 3 weeks and no phone for 2 months. Lesson learned, make sure you think of everything before going through with a plan.”
