All About Lana Del Rey’s New “Ocean Blvd” Album

You’ve probably listened to a Lana Del Rey song before, or at least know who she is. She has many hit songs such as Summertime Sadness, Young and Beautiful, West Coast, and more. She gained popularity after dropping her album Born To Die in 2012 and is still popular with 42 million monthly listeners just on Spotify. A little background on Lana Del Rey is she’s 37 years old, her real name is Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, she’s won multiple awards before, wrote a poetry book, and she has a lot of unreleased songs that get leaked often. All of her released albums are Born to Die, Paradise, Ultraviolence, Honeymoon, Lust for Life, Norman Rockwell, Chemtrails over the Country Club, Blue Banisters, and now her new one, Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd.

Now about the new album, the full name is “Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd”, it’s no surprise that the name is so long since Lana has made multiple songs that were just as long, if not longer. The album came out March 24th, 2023, a lot of vinyls were already ordered before that though and there’s still a lot being purchased. Ocean Blvd, for short, has 16 songs, the amount of time it takes to listen to all the songs is 1 hour and 17 minutes. Each song is about 3-5 minutes long, some longer. All of the songs, in order, are The Grants, Ocean Blvd, Sweet, AW, Judah Smith, Candy Necklace, Jon Batiste, Kintsugi, Fingertips, Paris Texas, Deep Sea Fishing, Let The Light In, Margaret, Fishtail, Peppers, and Taco Truck.

Most fans are happy with the album, except for a few songs. The controversial, or most hated songs are Judah Smith Interlude and Jon Batiste Interlude. They’re hated for a reason because they both just have people talking with some music in the background. For example, the Judah Smith one is a pastor preaching about something with music and you can hear Lana talking a little. Besides those two, the rest of the songs, overall, are liked. My personal favorite songs on the album are AW, Candy Necklace, Let The Light In, Fishtail, and Peppers. Lana references a lot of her past songs she has on the album, she references released, unreleased, and even songs that are on the album in other songs. An example is when she says “Palm trees in black and white” on the song Fishtail. This is a reference to her unreleased song Jump, as she says the same line in that song. If you’re a fan of Lana Del Rey, or even if you’re not, you should definitely listen to her new album since it’s so good and might even be one of my favorite albums from her.
