Senior year is often described as a breeze, it’s your last year of high school until you go into the real world and be an adult. Though senior year is a celebratory stage in high school there are many underlying challenges that senior face. College applications, senior fees, dying friendships, figuring out what exactly you want to go to school for to get a head start on your career, all of these things are not easy. Most seniors are just ready to graduate and it can be hard to find the motivation to finish strongly and do what we need to do.
In the beginning of senior year it can feel exciting for some and as the days go on and the months pass motivation slowly starts to fly out the window and most of us are just ready to get high school over with. In the beginning of senior year we’re hit with all of the senior activities that we have to pay for or get our parents to help us with. For example, prom, gradbash and graduation all cost $100+. It’s very expensive because you have to pay to attend these things but also pay for any gear that is required to attend these activities which can be expensive also. Having all of this money flying out the window isn’t easy at all. Along with the financial aspect of senior year, if you slacked in the beginning years of High School it can be hard to meet the graduation requirements to walk the stage.
Besides the challenging financial aspect of senior year, finding the motivation to do all of your assignments can be hard. Especially when we have big presentations or assignments that are a lot of points that can be time consuming to complete. Most seniors have work lives outside of school so it can be hard at times to balance work life and school life. Working late nights and having to get up for school the following morning is not easy and that leads to becoming unmotivated to get out of bed and show up. As a senior absences count towards what senior activities you’re allowed to attend to and if you have a certain amount of absences or tardies you’re not allowed to go to activities like prom and grad bash.
