Everyone has had at least one moment where you’re standing in the mirror picking apart flaws that no one else even seems to notice. You ask friends “does this look bad on me” or say things like “ I look so bad today” even though everyone else may think you look fine. Scrolling through your social media platforms late at night, you may come to a certain video and say “wow I wish I looked like that” or “how are they so perfect”, but the truth is, nobody’s perfect. Everyone has had at least one thing they felt insecure about, one thing they don’t talk about, one thing that they just wish they could change.
So, what does this look like? What makes people confident vs. Insecure? Well, Alica Marques says “One thing that makes me confident is when I get ready; I do my makeup, hair, and pick out a nice outfit. One thing that makes me less confident, or insecure is when I don’t take time getting ready, and I look a mess.” Simple things like taking time to get ready, can affect your confidence throughout the day, and that’s completely normal. All of us have had at least one day where we had to rush out of the house, and came to school feeling like we looked like a mess.
The most important part about confidence vs. Insecurities are remembering that nobody is perfect. Everyone has their bad days, everyone has something they don’t speak about, everyone has imperfections. What matters the most is the way you carry yourself throughout those days. Are you going to show your confidence, or are you going to let it ruin your life? What are you going to do, to take control of your insecurities?
