It was a bright day and you are in 3rd grade, the world is colorful and spring break is coming up. It’s now Friday and you are talking to your
classmates saying goodbye and to have a good spring break. You’re expecting 2 weeks off but that was not the case. A deadly virus breaks out and you now can’t go back to school for a while and you now have to wear a mask everywhere you go. That was the reality of 2020. But was 2020 even that bad. Everyone would say “ yes 2020 was awful so many deaths and so many limitations.” I would say the opposite I would say 2020 was an amazing year filled with fun TikTok dances , cringy trends , and online school.
While you where at home for what felt like an eternity you decide to download this app name TikTok that has been trending literally
everywhere. You download the app you sign up and now you have created a TikTok account on your for you page you see this girl named Charli D’Amelio doing a TikTok dance. You keep on scrolling and you keep on seeing so many other dances so you decide to learn a few. Doja Cat was trending so I learned the dance say so, then renegade and then supalonely. I was having so much fun learning the dances. I call my friend on messenger kids and she comes over to my house and we make the dance and then we post it. It gets like 100 likes and we think that now we famous we learned more dances and keep on posting. I feel like learning TikTok dances in 2020 was just such an easy way to waste time and just have so much fun and escape the reality of what was happening.
Dances weren’t the only thing on TikTok. There were so many cringe trends but at the time where considered normal at the time . 2020 was
just a very embarrassing year in total and one of my favorite cringy trends where the povs that when a viewer would watch it would just give them second hand embarrassment. For example people would we playing an audio usually with 2 people talking but the person would pretend to be one of the voices and like fake cry or pretend to be arrested then wink at the camera. Or even the awful outfits that where normalized. There where 2 main styles which where vsco which was a preppy kind of style with light colored cloths or even tie dye sometimes and that messy high bun. But don’t forget your hydro flask with stickers all around it to save the turtles from plastic. But the other style was like a emo fandom grunge kind of style with a big wing of eye liner and like lines under your eyes and that wing, spiky jewelry and chains on the jeans. There cloths where manly all black with accents of white and they where wear a lot of blush with eyeliner on there cheeks nose and lips and the best part exotic hair colors ranging from a neon green mullet to a wolf cut that the whole front part of the hair was bright pink or blue. The style in 2020 was very questionable and I’m very happy that we moved on from it. Another cringy trend was people would make these vsco videos and would they would step on food or stuff that was crunchy with there all white vans or checkered vans to make a satisfying noise, but that wasn’t the cringe part the cringe part was the voice effects that they would use. But with the vsco style videos people would also add a filter and film squeezing a water bottle slow now and people would love it, but looking back at it now it was just cringe.
Online school was literally perfect. School literally started at like 10 o’clock. You didn’t have to wake up early anymore and most of the time there were Internet problems so you didn’t even have to be on call most of the time. The assignments were so easy and state testing was at home with no distractions around you. If I had an assignment that I had to do and I didn’t understand it I could just look it up on the device I was doing the assignment on because in classes we didn’t have computers and also online school We didn’t have to worry about losing assignments or books or anything because everything was online. And instead of school being seven hours, we were able to finish all of our work in about three hours so then the rest of the day we had time to do whatever else we wanted. You could do schoolwork anywhere you wanted in your house. Like in your bed instead of having a sit at one of those uncomfortable chairs you could also wear whatever you wanted instead of the uniform that you were assigned to wear at school.
To wrap it up 2020 was a very peak year and I hope that it happens again, but with no people dying. Everything was perfect and the trends where fun at the time. And TikTok is still a thing so life is good.
